Taylor and Michael’s winter wonderland wedding at Sapphire Point Overlook in Breckenridge, Colorado was nothing short of magical! Surrounded by their closest family and friends (and their sweet pup Bonnie!) they exchanged vows overlooking Dillon Reservoir in one of our favorite outdoor wedding venues in Colorado!

Getting Ready Before The Ceremony

Taylor and Michael chose to get ready separately so they could share a first look down natures isle. Taylor got ready with her closest friends, her sister, her mom, and of course, her Bernese Mountain Dog Bonnie. It was such a special and relaxing morning, soaking in the February sunshine, sharing laughs, and creating memories with her closest friends.

After Taylor’s mom and sister helped her into her dress, she wanted to have a first look with her dad which she did in the Airbnb what she was getting ready in. Get your tissue box, this one is a tear jerker!

I think there is this common misconception about elopements or intimate weddings that you cannot incorporate traditions into your small wedding. That couldn’t be further from the truth! The wonderful thing about choosing to elope is that you are choosing exactly how you want get married. Want to have a first look? Go for it! Want to wear something blue? Hell ya! Want to have your getting ready documented? Yes, please!

Sapphire Point Overlook, Breckenridge, Colorado Wedding Ceremony

After Taylor and Michael got ready separately in their own Airbnb’s, we all drove to Sapphire Point Overlook. They had a gorgeous ceremony setup with chairs and florals. It was so perfect and the colors they chose for their wedding florals were absolutely beautiful!

When everyone took their seats, Taylor’s dad walked her down the “aisle” to meet Michael. Their best friend officiated their wedding which is such an incredible way to incorporate your close friend into your wedding. If you’re planning your wedding and feeling stuck with the officiating part, we wrote this blog just for you!

It was so special to catch Michael’s pure joy when he saw Taylor in all of her gorgeousness. All the butterflies and the pre-wedding jitters came to a head when he saw her. All of the years spent together, the wonderful memories, every cherished moment that lead them to their wedding day all came to a head. I honestly cannot even describe how happy Michael and Taylor looked in that moment. It was an absolute privilege to capture!

After they exchanged the sweetest of vows and shared their first kiss as a married couple, their sweet pup Bonnie “signed” their marriage license. PS: Did you know that your dog can sign your marriage license by inking their paw on the witness line?! It’s true! Because Colorado doesn’t require any witnesses, your dog (or cat!) can sign your marriage license. If that’s not the cutest thing you’ve ever heard, I don’t know what is.

Post Wedding Bliss!

After Taylor and Michael’s incredible ceremony, we hiked around Sapphire Point Overlook for additional sunset portraits. This is honestly one of my favorite things to include in an intimate wedding timeline is time for the couple to have portraits for just the two of them, to slow down, take each other in, and revel in those “just married” butterflies. Even if it’s just for thirty minutes, you both deserve time after the ceremony for just the two of you!

The After Party!

After their ceremony and portrait session, we headed Vinny’s in Frisco, Colorado where they rented out their party room to host those there to celebrate their love. Both of their dads gave the most heartfelt speeches I’ve ever heard! There was seriously not a dry eye in the entire room! After the speeches, Taylor and Michael shared their first dance.

One of the best things about choosing to elope is you can rent out a space to host a family style dinner with those closest to you. It is such a fun way for your loved ones to celebrate you. Plus, you get to keep the wedding party going! Win-win!
