I’ve known Emily since I was five years old. When she reached out to me about her camping elopement I was ecstatic! Emily and Ben were in the thick of planning their big, traditional wedding when she reached out to me. She was overwhelmed with the big wedding planning process and wanted something a little more intimate, private, and adventurous. They decided on a two-day camping elopement in Wyoming.

When we sat down and started looking at locations, they were immediately drawn to the Medicine Bow/Routt National Forest in Wyoming. With good reason, too! It is such a unique pocket in Wyoming. It has everything from big mountain views to easily accessible locations and lots of privacy. The perfect spot for their camping elopement.

Day One of Emily and Ben’s Camping Elopement in Wyoming

We met them at their campsite on a rainy afternoon but were quickly greeted by their dog, Tippit. I should mention that one of the most important things to Emily and Ben is their dog Tippit! She is quite possibly the cutest, most people loving dog I’ve ever met. I remember in the planning process Emily mentioned that they wanted as much documentation of Tippit as possible, and you can see why!

After some much needed dog snuggles, we set up our camp. After the rain cleared up a bit, we witnessed one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen. We laughed, cried, reminisced, and chatted about their future. And, of course, loved on Tippit.

Day Two of Emily and Ben’s Camping Elopement

Our alarms went off before the sun came up. Emily and Ben got ready by headlamp separately so they could share a private first look. There was so much anticipation and excitement for their first look and it was probably one of the sweetest we’ve seen! They immediately collapsed into each other’s arms with so much relief. It totally felt like, in that moment, that all of the stress of the big wedding planning melted away and they were able to be 100% present in that moment.

After their first look, and surrounded by wildflowers, we watched as the sun peeked over the mountains, throwing it’s pink alpenglow on those gorgeous Wyoming mountains. What an incredible sunrise we were able to witness!

Hiking to The Ceremony Site

After the most incredible sunrise, we packed up our stuff and headed out on the trail to find the perfect ceremony spot. We found this incredible location that overlooked a few alpine lakes and had jaw-dropping mountain views. Not to mention we were completely secluded!

Emily and Ben exchanged tearful and heartfelt vows surrounded by incredible mountain views. After their ceremony, they romped around the mountains and shared wedding waffles.
