The Best Elopement Locations Near Colorado Springs

Garden of the Gods

Garden of the Gods is the crown jewel of Colorado Springs elopements. The towering red sandstone formations, some reaching 300 feet into the air, create a backdrop that is genuinely one of a kind. Add a snow-capped Pikes Peak in the background and you have a photo that doesn’t look real. Early morning is magical here when the light goes warm and pink across the rocks and the park is quiet. A ceremony permit is required through the City of Colorado Springs, and we help all of our couples get that sorted well in advance.

Palmer Park

Palmer Park is one of those spots that locals know and love but that doesn’t always show up on the elopement radar. Sitting on a mesa on the east side of Colorado Springs, it offers sweeping views of the city and Pikes Peak with rugged trails and interesting rock formations throughout. It’s a little more relaxed and accessible than some of the other locations, and it photographs beautifully especially in the golden hour light. A great option for couples who want something a little more off the beaten path.

Seven Falls

Seven Falls is one of the most dramatic natural features in the entire Colorado Springs area. A series of seven cascading waterfalls dropping through a narrow granite canyon, it’s lush, moody, and absolutely stunning. The canyon walls rise steeply on both sides and the sound of the water makes the whole place feel tucked away from the rest of the world. It’s a genuinely unique elopement setting and one that creates some of the most striking photos we’ve ever taken.

North Cheyenne Cañon Park

North Cheyenne Cañon is one of our favorite hidden gems near Colorado Springs. The canyon is dramatic and lush, with rocky creek beds, dense pines, and views that open up beautifully as you climb. Helen Hunt Falls is right there and makes for a gorgeous ceremony backdrop. The whole park has a wild, remote feel even though it’s just minutes from the city. A permit is required for ceremonies within the park.

Pikes Peak

If you want to go big, Pikes Peak goes as big as it gets. At 14,115 feet, it’s one of Colorado’s most famous fourteeners and one of the few with a road to the summit. Standing at the top with the entire Colorado plains stretching out to the east and the Rockies rolling out to the west is a genuinely once in a lifetime experience. The Pikes Peak Highway is typically open late spring through fall. Summit conditions can be cold and windy even in summer so we always plan carefully for this one.

Colorado Springs Elopement Logistics

Marriage license: You can get your Colorado marriage license from any County Clerk and Recorder’s office in the state. The El Paso County Clerk’s office in Colorado Springs works great. It’s valid for 35 days, costs around $30 to $35, and both partners need to appear in person with valid ID.

Self-solemnization: Colorado allows you to legally marry yourselves with no officiant present. You sign your own license as your own witnesses. It’s a beautifully intimate option and one we guide couples through all the time.

Permits: Garden of the Gods and North Cheyenne Cañon both require ceremony permits. We start the permit conversation early with every couple so nothing catches you off guard.

Altitude: Most of the Colorado Springs locations sit between 6,000 and 7,000 feet, which is much more manageable than the high alpine spots further north. Pikes Peak is the exception at over 14,000 feet, so plan accordingly if that’s your spot.

Timing: Garden of the Gods at sunrise is something we will never stop recommending. The light on those red rocks in the first hour of the day is extraordinary. For Pikes Peak, weather windows matter a lot and we’ll help you plan around them.

What time of year is best for a Colorado Springs elopement? Honestly all of them, just for different reasons. Spring brings wildflowers and green canyon walls. Summer has long golden days and dramatic storm light. Fall is crisp and colorful. Winter at Garden of the Gods with snow dusting the red rocks is absolutely stunning and deeply underrated.

How far are these locations from Colorado Springs? Garden of the Gods, Palmer Park, and North Cheyenne Cañon are all within 15 minutes of downtown. Seven Falls is about 20 minutes. Pikes Peak via the highway is about 30 to 45 minutes depending on where you start.

Can we combine multiple locations in one day? Absolutely! A lot of our couples do a ceremony at Garden of the Gods in the morning and then head to a second location for portraits later in the day. We’ll help you build a timeline that makes the most of your day.
