When you’re planning to elope at Brainard Lake Recreation Area, one thing you’ll need to take care of is obtaining your timed entry reservation online. Fortunately, the process is simple and affordable.

How to Get Your Timed Vehicle Entry

To get your timed vehicle entry pass, you’ll need create an account and purchase a pass through Recreation.gov. Parking reservations go on sale at 8:00 am MT / 10:00 a.m. ET May 31st and will be continually released on a 15-day rolling window. You must arrive on the entry date, at the entry time, and park in the parking lot indicated on your reservation. Once your reservation is validated at the welcome station – or scanned in your windshield if arriving outside of when the Welcome Station is staffed – your day use parking is good for the remainder of the day. Only one day use parking reservation is required for the vehicle and all occupants. Please note: The upper trailhead parking lots (Long Lake, Mitchell Lake, Niwot) are not scheduled to open until July 1.

You will need to print out your pass with the QR code so the station attendants can scan your code and write you a pass. There isn’t service at Brainard Lake Recreation Area so I highly recommend printing out your pass just in case there isn’t anyone at the station you can leave it on your dash.

Some couples will even ask a friend or family member who is attending to officiate their ceremony, this is super easy and anyone can become ordained through Universal Life Church for free.

The roads leading to Brainard Lake are paved, but they can be closed in winter or early spring due to snow.
